Jaguar Land Rover boss Ralf Speth is in a good mood – but then he’s had a good couple of days. The Coventry-based company has just announced a partnership with Waymo, Google’s self-driving car division, opened a new US headquarters and launched a fire-breathing version of its bestselling F-Pace SUV.

Oh, and he’s running late to speak to The Daily Telegraph because the Range Rover Velar has just won the World Car Design of the Year title at the New York Auto show and he’s showing the trophy off to Waymo boss John Krafcik.
